Wash Care
DO NOT WRIKLE DRY:
Aggressively twisting or wringing the garment to remove excess water will create deep, lasting creases that are difficult to remove without using heat (which is usually not recommended for spandex). Best to Shake the item out immediately after washing to relax any wrinkles.
HANG DRY:
"hang dry" is the most crucial step in the care process and means to air dry the item, completely avoiding the high heat and tumbling action of a machine dryer. The safest way is often to lay the item flat on a clean surface or drying rack, especially for heavier items like leggings or sports bras, toprevent stretching. Best to Shake the item out immediately after washing to relax any wrinkles.
Do not Bleach:
High concentrations and high temperatures of strong oxidizers, like chlorine bleach, can degrade the nylon fiber. Also, Chlorine bleach is very harsh and will chemically break down the synthetic spandex(also known as elastane or Lycra) fibers, causing them to lose their stretch, elasticity, and shaperetention over time. Best Sticking to a mild detergent.
Low Temperature:
Generally, nylon-spandex fabrics do not wrinkle much. Avoid ironing as high heat will melt or severely damage the synthetic fibers and ruin the stretch. Best to use the absolute lowest heat setting and use a pressing cloth, ONLY IF NEEDED.
Shade drying:
Direct sunlight contains UV radiation, which can fade the dyes in both nylon and spandex, causing bright or dark colors to dull prematurely. Drying in the shade helps to maintain the garment's original color vibrancy. Best avoiding sunlight while drying.
DO NOT STEAM.
"Do not steam" prevents using a steamer set to a high temperature, or from holding the hot steamer head directly against the fabric, which can cause instant damage. Best use a handheld steamer set to the absolute lowest heat or "delicate" setting, and hold it a few inches away from the fabric, ensuring there is no direct contact with the steamer head, ONLY IF NEEDED.
DO NOT Tumble Dry.
The best way to dry nylon spandex garments is to air drying. ONLY IF NEEDED, Best use an air-only cycle if available. Keep it Short: Dry for a short period and remove the garment while it is still slightly damp to finish air-drying.
Hand Wash
Hand-washing is an excellent way to care for nylon spandex garments, as it is gentle on the fabric and helps preserve its stretch and shape. Best turn it inside out, this protects the outer surface and gently spot-clean any visible stains using a mild detergent and a soft cloth or brush before soaking.
